Ingredients
for base
1 packet active
dry yeast
1 teaspoon white
sugar
1 cup warm water
2 ½ cups bread
flour
2 tablespoons
cooking oil
1 teaspoon salt
Homemade tomato sauce:
Heat
1 tbsp olive oil in a saucepan. Add 2 onions, finely chopped, 2 garlic cloves,
sliced and 1 carrot, roughly chopped. Cook for 5-7 mins over a medium heat
until softened. Turn up the heat a little and stir in 2 finely chopped
tomatoes. Cook for 1 min, pour in 200ml white wine/vegetable stock, then cook
for 5 mins until this has reduced by two-thirds. Bring to the boil then simmer
for 20 mins. Leave to cool, whizz in a food processor.
Toppings:
Be creative with your can use:
Peppers, Mushrooms, Onions, Sausage, Bacon, Black
olives
Pineapple, Chicken strips, Mince, Spinach, Feta, Cheese
Directions
- Preheat oven to 230 degrees C. In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
- Stir in flour, salt and oil. Beat until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round. Transfer crust to a lightly greased pizza pan.
- Smear some tomato sauce on the base and some cheese.
- Spread with desired toppings and some more cheese and bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let baked pizza cool for 5 minutes before serving.
